Every year in the US alone 1 million acres of our planet’s trees are destroyed to manufacture and produce the wooden pallets used to operate the distribution industry.
IT'S TIME TO STOP THE DESTRUCTION!
REVOLUTIONIZE THE SUPPLY CHAIN
The Swedish retailer says it will save millions with this innovation
Our packaging engineers work hand-in-hand with designers to meet your supply chain challenges.
Freight Savings
Heavy wood block pallets can add nearly a ton of dead pallet weight, which reduces the amount of product loaded on the trailer before reaching maximum DOT weight limits. Eco Pallets weigh just 4 kg (9 lbs), reducing dead pallet weight and increasing the amount of product shipped for each trailer load.
Product Damage Savings
Manufacturers shipping fragile products realize a reduction in product damages caused by broken wood slats, protruding nails, and double stacking heavy pallets. Eco Pallets pallets are perfect every time, lightweight, and absorb vibration and shock offering a buffer between the road and your products.
Logistics and Handling Saving
In many cases, product manufacturers can bypass the retail distribution centers and ship directly to the retail store location where Eco Pallets are recycled along with other corrugated boxes, preventing pallet accumulation.
Employees at retail locations can hand carry Eco Pallets to the recycling bin rather than use pallet jacks or forklifts to store, stage, and load heavy wood pallets.
Air Freight Savings
Lightweight Eco Pallets save approximately $60 USD over conventional wood pallets when shipped Air Freight and billed at $1.00 USD per kg. Air freight savings exceed $1,000,000 USD converting just 17,000 pallets from wood to Eco Pallets.
Landfill Savings
Eco Pallets are captured and re-pulped by the corrugated recycling infrastructure already in place for corrugated boxes, rarely entering a landfill. Hardwood pallets are one of the biggest solid waste contributors to landfills.
CO2 Emissions Savings
The amount of fuel used to ship and retrieve empty pallets to and from customers is reduced substantially with Eco Pallets. Because Eco Pallets pallets are 90% lighter than wood versions, customers are able to fit more products in their delivery trucks and reduce fuel consumption overall. Customers will see 20% to 30% fewer trucks on the road and with fewer trips each year customers report that Eco Pallets cut CO2 emissions by 20%. Our pallet lifecycle analysis affirmed that single-use cardboard was the greener option because they eliminate the need for empty wood pallets to be ferried back and forth. Each gallon of diesel fuel saved would decrease carbon emissions by 10 kg (22 lbs).
Cross Contamination Elimination
The corrugated board is made using high temperatures and is approved for food and pharmaceutical applications because of its sterile nature. Eco Pallets pallets ship one way, preventing exposure to contaminants, harmful chemicals, and bacteria.
Slip Sheet Elimination
Slip sheet purchases add additional costs as a necessary barrier to each wood pallet, but Lifdek pallets eliminate them due to the smooth, clean top surface.
Treated Pallet Elimination
Some countries have stopped receiving wood pallets due to the wood-boring insects they transport. Eco Pallets are ISPM15 exempt, which prevents your products from being held at port.
Wood Pallet Injury Elimination
Pallet related injuries to employees and customers caused by heavy wood pallets and poor pallet quality are eliminated with smooth, lightweight Eco Pallets.
Recycling Revenue Increase
Lifdek pallets can be recycled with other corrugated boxes, generating additional recycling revenue. Over 73% of corrugated board is captured with today’s efficient recycling infrastructure – higher than any other packaging material.
Every year in the US alone 1 million acres of our planet’s trees are destroyed to manufacture and produce the wooden pallets used to operate the distribution industry.
To replenish 1 million acres of trees will take approximately 40 years.
Estimates show we lose 137 animal, plant, and insect species each day due to deforestation, equating to 50,000 species every single year.
Wooden pallets have become a major factor in our planet’s deforestation. deforestation is one of the largest contributors to global warming and our earth’s sudden spike in temperatures.
Wood dust is found in pallets and is a carcinogen associated with nasal and sinus cavity cancer, lung cancer, and Hodgkin’s disease (cancer of the lymph system that creates your antibodies).
According to the World Resource Institute, more than 80 percent of the earth’s natural forests have already been destroyed.
54% of wood pallets are used for only one shipment, and then either stored, burned or thrown away.
It is estimated that nearly 30% of CO2 buildup in our atmosphere can be attributed to deforestation over the past 150 years.
IKEA rolled out a game-changing invention that may have escaped the attention of most shoppers. As part of its “Low Handling Material” initiative, new lightweight platforms hold up stacks of products throughout IKEA’s self-serve areas. The key difference is that the platforms, which double as shipping pallets, are now made of corrugated cardboard instead of wood. This seemingly simple innovation has revolutionized the entire supply chain of the world’s largest furniture retailer. Switching to single-use cardboard platforms—aka “paper pallets”—has enabled IKEA to move its products faster, and cheaper, with less damage to the environment, and less injuries for its employees.
IKEA handles about 3.5 billion packages each year—every inch saved matters, and every minute shaved counts.
So far, the results of IKEA’s switch to paper have been impressive. Because the pallets are 90% lighter than wood versions, IKEA is able to fit more products in its delivery trucks and reduce fuel consumption overall. This has already resulted in 20% to 30% fewer trucks on the road, or 50,000 to 100,000 fewer trips each year. Using recyclable cardboard instead of timber also fits into IKEA’s sustainability goals: according to its latest sustainability report, the cardboard solution has cut IKEA’s CO2 emissions by 20%. A pallet lifecycle analysis affirmed that single-use cardboard was the greener option because they eliminate the need for empty wood pallets to be ferried back and forth.

As designers sketch out ideas, paper engineers plan how to efficiently pack each product like jigsaw puzzles. We know your products need to be shrink-wrapped, stacked, or packed to survive the journey from your facility to the final destination. Every aspect, from shipping to pallet handling and recycling, is considered.
Economical
EcoPallets are often less expensive than new wood pallets.
Corrugated pallets do not incur secondary costs as wood pallets do.
Weighing only a fraction of wood pallets, Eco Pallets reduce shipping costs.
Nest-stacked Eco Pallets reduce pallet handling and conserve warehouse space.
Wood pallets can hold moisture and necessitate the use of a barrier-separator sheet between the load and the pallet to keep the moisture from weakening the bottom boxes.
Ecological
Eco Pallets replace costly wood pallet handling and disposal with easily accessible corrugated recycling.
Odd/custom-size wood pallets are difficult to dispose
Many landfills no longer accept wood pallets
Used wood pallets become a hazardous and unsightly liability
Eco Pallets are made with 100% corrugated paper and assembled with "repulpable" F.D.A.-approved adhesive.
Eco Pallets endeavors to purchase its corrugated paper from mills that are certified in the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) and Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) fiber sourcing standards. This ensures that the paper we use is acquired only from responsibly managed and renewable sources.
Export Ready
Eco Pallets contain no wood; thereby making them exempt from all export regulations for wood packaging.
Always Available
The supply of 48x40 used pallets has become volatile.
Used 48x40 pallets are classified into three grades. Grade A, grade B, and Club Store grade. Supplies have become inconsistent, causing many to switch to corrugated.
At Eco Pallets we inventory truckloads of raw corrugated, ready to be constructed into your company's pallet. Often our customers rely on our ability to construct and ship a truckload of pallets within 1-2 days, allowing their lines to continue operation.
Strong
Eco Pallets are engineered for the capacity and handling needs of each application. Off-the-shelf models can carry in excess of 2,000 Lbs.
Custom versions of Eco Corrugated Pallets can be designed to hold 4 metric tons.
Clean
Eco Pallets keep your product and facility free from contaminants found in wood pallets.
Wood pallets can host infestation requiring the additional cost of fumigation or heat-treating for food grade applications.
Our pallets eliminate hazardous material in your warehouse and under your product. Eco pallets are made entirely from new corrugated paper and constructed with FDA-approved adhesive.
Used wood pallets can contain harmful bacteria. In 2010 the National Consumers League reported that 10% of pallets intercepted and tested contained traces of E. Coli and other bacterias.
Safe
Eco Pallets reduce the risk of personal injury while handling pallets.
The muscle strain, splinter, eye and foot accidents from handling wood pallets along with housekeeping issues cause significant expenses.
With an average weight of 9 lbs, almost anyone can safely handle a corrugated pallet without the need of handling equipment.
